Since 2018, the Kansas Association of City/County Management (KACM) has offered a scholarship to encourage people currently working in the public sector to advance their careers in city or county management in Kansas. The Rising Star scholarship may be used for classes toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree, Certified Public Manager program, or other similar program applicable to preparing students for public management careers.
Each year KACM budgets $3,000 for this Rising Star Scholarship with amounts awarded based on applications received. Applicants must be (1) recommended by a KACM member, (2) working in the public sector, and (3) show potential for advancement in public management. Scholarships will be awarded at the KACM meeting as part of the KCCM Spring Conference in late April of this year.
To apply, email a letter of interest (career aspirations and educational plan) with resume and letter of recommendation from a KACM member (prefer all three documents in one .pdf) to Nathan Law, chair of the KACM Awards Committee, at email@example.com by April 1st. This is a great opportunity to help advance others in our profession, please consider encouraging someone in your organization to apply for this scholarship.
