Please fill out the form below to nominate someone for one of the following awards potentially given by KACM. Nominees generally have to be KACM members in good standing to be eligible for an award. Nominations for KACM awards can come from persons or organizations outside of KACM.
Buford Watson, Jr. Award: This award is intended for a KACM member who has displayed the attributes of the late Buford M. Watson, Jr. (former City Manager of Lawrence, KS). These attributes include serving as a role model in dealing with constituents, valuing customer satisfaction, and encouraging new members of the profession. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a member by KACM.
Career Recognition Award: This award is intended to recognize those KACM members who have recently retired or have announced their retirement from the profession and actively participated in KACM during their career.
Early Career Excellence Award: This award is to recognize KACM members who are early in their careers (generally defined as intern through the first five years working) who have demonstrated excellence and a strong promise to positively impact the future of professional local government management.
Leadership Award: This award is to recognize a KACM member who has led their organization or community through a particularly difficult or uniquely trying time and demonstrated the value of professional local government management during such times.
Sunflower Award: This award is to recognize a KACM member who has worked closely with other governmental levels (e.g. federal or state) to help advance or advocate for legislation or policies that would benefit local governments in Kansas or for professional management in local government.
*Please note that while awards and nominations are considered annually by the awards committee based upon received nominations, some awards may not be bestowed in any given year due to lack of eligible nominations or other factors.
